Clay classes are a great opportunity to explore the joy, challenges, and satisfaction of creating with clay. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, there is a class for you at the Art Barn. The Art Barn offers clay classes for kids and adults that focus on 2 specific clay-forming skills: throwing on the potter’s wheel and hand-building. All classes are small and individually tailored to guide you through each step of the pottery-making process. All materials and firing fees are included in the class cost.
Classes include:
HAND-BUILDING WITH CLAY FOR KIDS
Messy, fun, and generally easier than working on the potter’s wheel, kids love to get hands-on with clay. In this class, kids will learn techniques like pinch, coil, and slab and use these to create their very own masterpiece out of clay. This class will meet 2 consecutive Saturday afternoons (1 for making their piece, and 1 for glazing), from 1:00-2:30.

KID’S POTTERY WHEEL CLASSES
Kids love the challenge and reward of throwing on the potter’s wheel! This class is for beginners and intermediate students who want to have personalized instruction as they learn to create forms on the wheel. Classes will meet 2 consecutive weekdays (1 for creating pieces, and 1 for glazing) from 5:30-6:30.

ADULT POTTERY WHEEL CLASSES
If you have never thrown on the wheel before and always thought about trying it, or if you have thrown in the past and are looking to get back at it, this class is for you! Adult pottery wheel classes offer guided instruction to help you understand the entire clay process as you create clay pieces on the wheel. Plus, they are a fun and relaxing way to unplug from your phone, get your hands muddy, and experience clay! Classes will meet 3 consecutive weekdays from 6:30-8:00pm.

PRIVATE OR SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION
Not up for a class setting? We can customize an experience and instruction just for you. Private or small group instruction in clay at the Art Barn can be arranged for hand-building with clay or wheel-throwing.** (Note: we can accommodate 16 students for hand-building and 8 for wheel-throwing.) A private booking at the Art Barn is perfect for:
- A one-on-one lesson
- A group of friends or family who want to learn together
- A date night event
- Team-building with coworkers
Time: 1 class (1.5 hours)
Age: 10 and up
Cost: $40 per person

- Classes can be changed or canceled up to 24 hours before the event.
- Finished & fired pieces are ready for pick-up the week after the class session ends (to allow us time to kiln-fire their final creations).
